There's a great backstory to this piece. My father was a was a 45-year veteran of Boeing Military Airplane Company. He was part of an art group which supported engineering and manufacturing. It was apparently a thing for the group artists to exchange cartoons and illustrations among each other. While going through my dad's estate I found this cartoon that was given to him by one of the other artists. My guess is that it is probably circa mid-to-late 1950s. I was so captivated by the subject and the style I felt compelled to finish it.
